1869'S' Gem Brilliant Uncirculated. A blazing white coin with a trace of gold on the upper obverse, a bit more around the reverse rim. The strike is typically sharp, although there is a hint of weakness on Liberty's head and a few stars, and on the left talons of the eagle. For identification purposes there is a minute tick on Liberty's neck, another in the left obverse midway in the field between the second and third stars and Liberty's arm. The reverse is clean and attractive. Both dies show evidence of wear, with a coarse texture noted near the rims, a result of striking many coins with this die pair. For the date, this is one of the very Finest Known, and certainly well up in the Condition Census. Forget the original mintage in Uncirculated grades, all San Francisco Seated Half Dollars are tough to find, particularly so in such lofty grades as seen here.
