North Carolina Currency. April 2, 1776 Halifax Issue. One Sixteenth of a Dollar. Beetle Vignette....North Carolina Currency. April 2, 1776 Halifax Issue. One Sixteenth of a Dollar. Beetle Vignette. No.4787. Signed by McCulloch and Bradford. Printed on laid paper. Smaller format size, approximately 75mm by 50mm. Floral pattern left. These lower denomination notes are rare and generally seen chipped and flawed, when encountered at all. Printage of 13,333 for each of the six types. Very Fine. A few folds on strong paper. A choice example with petty detriments. Some pinholes and a few minor thins. Lightly aged with a darker patch of toning at the bottom center. A short slit at the upper right and back mounting hinges. Period pen back endorsements.

Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.

It is logical to conjecture that the $1/16 dollar notes were printed from a six subject plate of the six vignette types. The vignette order is alphabetical in Newman and not based on their plate positions on the plate which is, as of yet, unknown.
